NEW FOR 2010

Press Release sent to  The Broadview magazine for the December issue:

MARTHAM CARNIVAL 2010

We have listened to what you have said about the 2009 Carnival. There were many, many positive points raised and there were one or two suggestions for the 2010 Carnival and we are pleased to announce that there will be no “theme” other than “Carnival” for 2010.   We are also now aware that insurance for floats for the Carnival Parade is extremely excessive and your suggestion that we encourage more walkers, cyclists, stilt walkers etc has been taken on board and we are happy for you, or your group to participate.   We will be having a wheelbarrow competition in the parade and of course our Carnival Queen.  So there are no excuses why you or your group can not participate in our Parade on Carnival Sunday next year.   Let us have lots of colour, noise and excitement.

Just let us know well in advance if you want to participate.

Our web-site will be completely updated soon and any young women over 14 who want to enter the Carnival Queen competition can download the entry form.   We will also have more details about the Wheelbarrow Competition and don’t forget the tug-of-war, bonny baby and glam gran competitions.

The forms for stalls and entry to the parade will also be on the web-site.   Please note the price for a stall on the green remains the same as this year.

We do request your help!   We are looking for willing volunteers to help over carnival weekend, particularly people who can collect for us in the parade, and we are also looking for volunteers to be our judges for some of the competitions.   If you are interested in helping please get in touch with us.

Check out the web-site for further information www.marthamcarnival.co.uk or telephone Georgina on 01493 748522.

Anyone who wants to enter a float on the 4th July you can download a form from the Forms page on this web-site or contact the Carnival Committee by telephoning Penny Yeates on 01493 748522.  There is a prize for the winning float.  (Motorized or Walking and this includes cyclist or stilt walkers)

We will be having a Carnival Queen again at this years’ carnival so if any young women from Martham, over 14 years of age are interested in joining the competition please telephone us for an entry form.

There are still pitches available for groups or individuals over the weekend, and if anyone wants to have a pitch to sell goods for their charity or community group, or if they are a cottage industry and want to sell craft items or hand made goods, forms can be downloaded from the web site, or telephone 01493 748522 and we will send one to you.    Commercial companies are also welcome but please download your forms or phone us for one and return them as soon as possible.

We continue to look for volunteers to help over Carnival Weekend and make this year even better than last so if you want to help contact us through the web-site www.marthamcarnival.co.uk, or by phoning 01493 748522
